Anti AI-Attorney: "AI is dumb. Real lawyers don't need artificial intelligence."Me: "If AI is so dumb, then why did the legal AI (Harvey) just raise $300M at a $5B valuation? 💰The same Harvey that has LexisNexis (yes, THE LexisNexis) as both an investor AND strategic partner? 📚The one being used by the majority of top 10 US law firms? 🏢

Then he complained about working weekends. Again. 😴

Maybe "dumb" isn't the AI... 🤷‍♀️

"If AI is So Dumb, What About Harvey?" 🧠💡

Here's what makes Harvey's story so compelling: Harvey has raised over $600 million:

Series E (June 2025): $300M at $5B valuation, co-led by Kleiner Perkins and Coatue

Series D (February 2025): $300M at $3B valuation, led by Sequoia

Timeline: Just 4 months between the two rounds

LexisNexis connection: REV (RELX Group's VC arm) participated in both rounds, plus the strategic partnership.

The company is being used by 337 legal clients, including the majority of the top 10 US law firms. We're not talking about some fly-by-night startup—we're talking about a platform that has a strategic alliance with LexisNexis to integrate trusted, high-quality AI technology and legal content including U.S. case law, statutes, and Shepard's citations.

LexisNexis didn't just invest in Harvey—they partnered with them. That's like the Vatican endorsing a new religion. 🏛️✨

Here's where the story gets even more interesting. While AntiAI “Dave” is explaining why AI would destroy the legal profession, he unknowingly proved my point:

"I spent all weekend working on the Morrison case research," he complained. "Forty hours of document review, and I'm still not sure I caught everything." 😵‍💫

Meanwhile, attorneys using AI-assisted workflows are seeing dramatic efficiency gains while maintaining higher accuracy rates according to multiple peer-reviewed studies.

Dave's weekend was shot. AI-assisted attorneys are maintaining work-life balance while delivering better results for their clients. 🏖️⚖️

The kicker? The legal industry itself is voting with its dollars. In 2024, global investments in legal technology startups reached $2.1 billion. February 2025 saw one of the highest investment totals in U.S. legal tech history.

When LexisNexis—the company that has been the backbone of legal research for decades—decides to both invest in AND partner with an AI company, that's not a signal that AI is "dumb." That's a signal that the future is here. 🌟

The Punchline: Who's Really Being "Dumb"? 🤔

Don't get me wrong—Dave is an excellent attorney. He's sharp, experienced, and absolutely destroys opposing counsel in depositions. But he's fighting a battle against innovation that he's destined to lose.

The legal profession is evolving whether we like it or not. Courts are starting to expect AI-disclosure in some jurisdictions. Law schools are teaching AI literacy. Major firms are investing millions in AI infrastructure. 🏫💻

Meanwhile, Dave is the legal equivalent of a newspaper editor in 1995 declaring the internet "just a fad." 📰➡️💻

The Real Message 💼

As an AI Legal Strategist, I spend my time helping attorneys navigate this transition responsibly. The goal isn't to replace human judgment—it's to amplify it. 🔊

AI won't make lawyers obsolete. But lawyers who understand AI will absolutely outcompete those who don't. The question isn't "Is AI dumb?" but rather "How do we use AI intelligently while maintaining ethical standards?" 🎯⚖️

That's why I developed my AI Legal Strategist framework—because the legal profession needs guides, not gatekeepers.

Adoption📚

Dave will eventually adopt AI tools. Probably in about three years, when his competition has left him no choice. He'll discover what I already know: AI doesn't make lawyers dumb—it makes smart lawyers unstoppable. 🚀

Until then, I'll keep developing AI ethics frameworks, helping attorneys embrace the future responsibly, and trying not to laugh when colleagues declare war on productivity tools that have billion-dollar valuations and partnerships with the most trusted names in legal research. 😄

After all, somebody has to help the legal profession catch up to 2025.

P.S. Dave, if you're reading this: I still think you're brilliant. But maybe consider that the "dumb" AI just helped me write this article efficiently while maintaining quality and accuracy. Oh, and LexisNexis agrees with me. Just saying. 😉💡
